The film is a sequel to Winx Club: The Secret of the Lost Kingdom. It was first thought to have taken place right after the fourth season. Since Roxy, the fairy of animals, does not appear at Alfea or is mentioned in this film and Nabu appears even though he died in Episode 24 of Season 4, it is now thought that the film takes place sometime in the middle of Season 4.
